Early and regular visits to a pediatric dentist are critical for your child’s well-being, and set the stage for a lifetime of oral health. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics all advise parents to take their children to a pediatric dentist by one year of age, and no more than six months from the appearance of the first tooth. After the initial appointment, an exam should be scheduled annually through age three, and every six months from that point forward.
